Cal Me Maybe

Selected text in, calendar events out.

Cal Me Maybe is a Chrome extension that turns text you select on any web page into an event in your Google Calendar. Highlight a date, a meeting time or an invite in an email, press a shortcut, and it becomes a calendar entry with the title, time, location and description already filled in.

You're reading an email that says "let's do the design review next Tuesday at 2, my office". Highlight it, press a shortcut, and there's a "Design review" event on Tuesday at 2pm with the location filled in and the email quoted in the description.

It works on anything selectable — a message in a web chat client, a line in a shared document, a paragraph of a conference agenda.

Three ways to capture

Which model reads the text

You choose. Chrome's built-in AI runs entirely on your own machine, so the text never leaves your computer and there's no key to manage. Alternatively you can supply your own Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter API key, which handles messier text and awkward relative dates more accurately. You pay that provider directly — there is no service in between.

What data Cal Me Maybe requests from Google, and why

Cal Me Maybe asks for the minimum access needed to put an event on your calendar, and uses it for nothing else:

Events are written directly from your browser to Google. There is no Cal Me Maybe server, no account to create, and no analytics. Your Google data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train a model. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

Installing

  1. Install from the Chrome Web Store, or build it from source.
  2. Open the extension's settings and click Sign in with Google.
  3. Pick a model provider. Chrome's built-in AI needs no setup; for the others, paste an API key.
  4. Select some text on any page and press Alt+Shift+C.
